Arizona’s most visited State Historic Park, the territorial prison was built in 1876 and incarcerated 3,069 inmates, including 29 women, until 1909. The park hosts numerous annual events and Old West reenactments. Its museum interprets the prison, its staff and convicts. It lies in north Yuma, near the banks of the Colorado River.
